The Bridge
God is in heaven. From where we stand He seems distant—high above us, invisible, uninvolved in the ordinary details of life.
Man is here on earth. This is our world. We see, we touch, we plan, and we feel as though we are in control.
Between these two realities there is a vast void.
“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”
(Isaiah 59:2)
The void is not empty. It is blocked by a barrier that man cannot remove. That barrier is sin.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
(Romans 3:23)
“For the wages of sin is death.”
(Romans 6:23)
No amount of effort, religion, morality, or self-improvement can cross that separation. Man remains on one side; a holy God remains on the other. The feeling of being in control changes nothing. The gulf is fixed by sin.
God Himself has bridged the void and the barrier.
He did it through His Son, Jesus Christ—the God/Man.
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
(1 Timothy 2:5)
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
(John 14:6)
The eternal Son of God took on flesh, lived without sin, died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day. By His blood He made peace and opened the only way back to God.
“But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.”
(Ephesians 2:13)
“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.”
(1 John 4:9)
This is faith, hope, and love in action:
- Love — God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (John 3:16).
- Hope — the finished work of Christ is the sole ground of a sinner’s hope.
- Faith — the sinner must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and receive Him as Saviour.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
(Ephesians 2:8-9)
There is no other bridge. There is no other mediator. There is no other name under heaven whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
The God/Man has crossed the void. The barrier of sin has been dealt with at the cross. Restoration to God is possible only through Him.
Have you believed?
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”
(John 3:36)
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”
(Acts 16:31)
The void remains for every soul that rejects the only Bridge. The way is open for every soul that trusts the God/Man alone.
